BHR now has two Piper DL7s in the team's stable. The first car is 2014 DL7 #007. This car was raced by Brad Hayes for the majority of the 2017 season. The second car which has just recently been acquired is a brand new 2017 DL7 #012. This car is currently being prepped for winter testing and the upcoming 2018 season.
The Piper DL7 chassis is designed and built in California by Doug Learned and his son Doug Learned Jr. The car was designed specifically around the Honda engine. This makes it a very tidy package compared to some cars that started life with a Ford engine and were later converted to the Honda. The clean design and the impeccable car preparation provided by Doug Sr and Doug Jr are a key part of the success of BHR.
