Gear Chart

Several people asking about a gear chart for the Kenyon Midgets. So I have taken a gear chart that I got from Don, and added some more detail. This is a bit complicated, but I like to look at top speeds in mph at the 10,000 rpm rev limit. I have calculated this for all of the various gear sets, and also included the 5 gear ratios in the Yamaha gearbox. The speed calculation is not exact, as you end up with some tire slip, and a difference in tire sizes that come in to play. I have correlated this with some test data from our car where we had actual speeds from GPS to compare with. But don't take the speeds as being 100% accurate, just use them as a reference when comparing different gear options.

This chart is based on a 4:33 ring and pinion ratio. Most cars have this ring and pinion. If you have a car with a different ring and pinion (such as 3:78), let me know, and I can re-calculate this chart for you based on your ring and pinion ratio.
